CYCLES
Theme : Over consumption
What it is: it is a situation in which or where resource use has outpaced the sustainable capacity of the ecosystem Pinterest/Inspiration Board: Cycles Plan: Our plan is to create an installation based on the subject of over consumption and how it is a cycle that is repeated daily, by doing this we will create a tree root that will be held up in a "floating position" by plastic latex balloons to represent how plastic/over consumption is overtaking our environment. |
INSTALLATION : Arianna Melendez & Bailey Panza
- Black balloons with white sharpie writing
- The tree will be spray painted white
- Will use Fake tree or create our own
- No trees will be harmed in the making (try using branches from outside n then glue them if not we will make it with newspaper)
NEED TO BUY:
- Arianna - Balloons
- Bailey - White sharpie’s
- March 3rd we will collect our "tree part" to start building it
- JUROR DATE: March 26th
Classmate Feedback: "I think it is a great idea, because people need to pay more attention to the environment and bring more awareness to the topic."

Three Words
Foreshadowing: hint at what will happen next, or at some point, in the story.- The future of the environment
Hyperbole: extreme exaggeration of a real event or situation. EX: I’m so hungry, I can eat a whole cow.- Trees will not actually be made out of balloons and plastic
Symbolism: something is used to represent something else, such an idea or concept.- This will provide people a sense of what over consumption looks like

Melancholy Mood
For my Melancholy series I decided to incorporate the sheet in all the images to create an eery vibe I did not want to show the models face in the pictures because I wanted the sheet to create a character of sadness . For the first picture i had my model stand up against a fence with trees in the foreground. For my second image I wanted to do a close up on my models hand while including the sheet. I made her open her hands so you could see her ring. In my third picture I had my model stand behind bars to create caged feeling, in the foreground there are also bars going vertical. In the fourth image I had my model in between two tree stumps and leaning against one. I had her lean against one so the light in the back can shine through the sheet creating a silhouette of the person. For my last picture I had my model sit on steps next to the rail. The rail creates leading lines towards the models head.
RECREATE Image
For my recreation image I chose to to the girl in the robe. I first Took the picture in the foreground, I had my model wear a pink robe to match the picture. I did not have access to a red dress or red skirt, so if was to remake this image again i would the red. I Positioned the model Tilted in the same direction and cropped them at their forehead. For the image in the front I took a close picture and added the pink face paint to their lips. When you look closely to the original image their face is not all the way focused, so i made sure to that into consideration when taking my picture.
Personal Images
For my personal images I based my pictures around the three most prominent people in my life right now. Those people would be my mom, dad, and grandma. the first picture represents my grandma because that is the chair she sits in everyday 5 times a day to have a smoke. As you can see by the ashtray. My grandma has smoked her whole life, whenever I was out in the backyard playing as a kid I remember having to go inside while she wanted to take a smoke break, my mom never let me go outside while she smoke because she was worried about second hand smoke and how that affects kids, my grandma on the other hand did not really care. We lived in the same house for more than 10 years and every day she walks her self downstairs out in the cold mornings to sit in her chair and smoke a cigarette. My grandma is not getting any younger and it's sad to think about her not being conscious of her own health. She is my only grandparent that I am in contact with. In the second image I took a picture of one of my dads six packs to represent him. My dad likes to drink but says his not an alcoholic but I beg to differ. Growing up my family hosted a lot of family events to this meant that people were going to drink. Of course my dad has to be a light weight when it comes to alcohol. My mom can handle her drinking better than him, a few beers and he done for the night. I have seen my dad drunk multiple time so it is very easy to tell when he is. I don't like my dad when he is drunk. It can two ways when he drinks either bubbly and overly enthusiastic or just mad and wants to drink more when people tell him he has had enough. I hope one day my dad could understand that his drinking affects other people. The Last image is of a dying plant with two different gardening decorations with it. The picture represents my mom because she loves to garden, when I was younger we would go plant shopping and I get to pick out any plant/flower I saw and plant it in our backyard. Back then my mom had more free time show she liked to plant flowers. Now my mom has had to work more and has not gotten any time to garden so this image is an updated state of some of our plants in the yard. I feel bad when she goes into the yard and sees the dead plants and doesn't have time to keep up the the garden because she works so hard to provide for our family.
